Återtaganden, Stärkanden, Inspirationer: Forskning och utforskning av, med och för urfolk, minoriteter och lokalbefolkningar.
Title [en]
RE-Claimings, Empowerings, Inspirings: Researching and exploring by, for and with indigenous peoples, minorities and local communities
Abstract [sv]
The symposium will focus on discussing the cultural heritage and culture which is commonly denominated as ?Sámi culture/ cultural heritage?, often considered to be of importance to a very limited number of people. Challenging this idea of a limited number of Sámi, a methodology is working with revisibilisation and reclaiming of Sámi cultural practices and heritage, language land-and waterscapes. To strengthen our approaches and make international comparisons we have invited prominent international scholars/activists/artists ? who are indigenous/tribal/minority themselves, or are non-indigenous but closely working with indigenous/tribal/minority groups and communities with the aim to strengthen those communities. We have so far ? apart from Sweden - invited participants from Australia, Japan, Canada, the US, Péru, India, Norway and Russia. Main objective is to create a space for exchange/collaboration for a coming program application for the establishment of a formal research platform ? focusing on indigenous/Sámi related research ? the Arctic/Polar regions. It is based on the existing collaboration and networks (national and international) at Uppsala University ? SLU, Ultuna (and involving scholars at Stockholm University and KTH). In 2011 the association for Sámi related research was established, UPPSAM ? of which the applicants (Ähman, Huss, Tunón) are founding members and members of the board. UPPSAM counts about 50 scholarly members.
