What purpose does programming have in the mathematics subject in the lower grade? (English)
Abstract [en]

The purpose of this study is to investigate the attitudes of low-school teachers to programming in the mathematical subject and how they implement this in classroom. Starting in the summer of 2018, has skolverket decided to make revisions in the curriculum, which means that programming will become part of this. This means that teachers must acquire new knowledge. These are the foundation pillar of this study, based on the mathematical abilities, socio-cultural perspectives, content analysis and quantitative surveys, these mentioned are important areas that can be of great help to teachers within programming in mathematics.

When the quantitative surveys were compiled, it was indicated that 55% of elementary school teachers have not yet received training in programming. A large part had not received the information from its principal, but they had independently developed and renewed within the subject. Nevertheless, all teachers are still positive about the new change in the curriculum. Many teachers wish they had a longer education to acquire the knowledge they need to be able to work with programming in mathematics.

Based on this study, the mathematical abilities will be linked to programming, and this will enable teachers to work with it in the classroom.
