The creation of fictive characters : A narrative analys of the TV-serie Modern Family (English)
Abstract [en]

The study will search for answers to identity creation, norms, sexuality and ethnicity presented in the fictitious popular television series Modern Family. The study will use a narrative sub-perspective analysis with links to theories of identity creation, narratology and norm criticism. Two characters will be analyzed in the TV series Modern Family. The study will focus on the first three episodes and the last three episodes in season one. The characters that are analyzed have different ethnicity and sexual orientation than the norm. The study will focus and analyze social life, stereotypes, identities and how these characters are presented in the fictional series. The narrative analysis method is an interpretive method that can be used to find a truth. The narrative method is open to interpretation, and there is no single truth but is constantly open to new interpretations.
