Abstract [pl]

Abstract [en]

The name Polish space was proposed by Roger Godement (member of Nicolas Bourbaki’s group) in 1949 to honor a group of Polish mathematicians who extensively researched these topological spaces. In the mathematical literature, this term appeared only in 1958 in the book by Nicolas Bourbaki Topologie générale. Currently, it is a basic concept in descriptive set theory, also used in measure theory, probability theory, in the study of Borel structures and analytic sets.
