A tube (10)/casting (14) assembly and method according to which an axially projecting cylindrical flange (14a) projects from one end of a tubular casting (14) over which an end portion of the conduit (10) extends. A groove (14b) is formed in the casting (14) for receiving the end portion of the conduit (10) and a retainer (22a, 22b) secures the end portion of the conduit (10) in the groove (14b).
