Abstract [en]

Annealing of a C-1. 5 Mn steel at temperatures around the A//1 point brings about the formation of austenite, enriched in manganese. The thermodynamics and kinetics of the process are outlined and the consequences discussed. It is believed that the heat treatment described may open a way for the manufacturing of formable dual-phase steels in considerably thicker dimensions than those currently available
