By obtaining and implementing a geographic information system (GIS), an organization can use its geographical information in a better way and both work more effective and create better decision support. One challenge in the introduction-process is to spread the use of the system. Storuman municipality has acquired a GIS but not yet started to use it fully, they have stayed in the first introductive phase, which means that they have not been able to reap the benefits the system can provide. The purpose of this work is to increase the municipality's use of their GIS-program Solen by updating the program with geographic information that can be used in administration activities.Through focusgroups, interviews and observations, I have found what spatial information the municipality needs of the system and then I have set it up in the system. The study concludes that use is increasing with more and updated information within the GIS-program. Nevertheless, there is still much to do to increase and spread the use and usefulness of the program, it depends not only on the geographic information but also connections to other systems.
