This thesis describes and suggests a solution to the formulated problem - provide a satisfying way to decrease complexity in today's computer usage at home. In doing so the thought of offering a whole solution to the end user may be the only way to move critical system maintenance from the user to experts. The project development work gave in combination with the examination of computing technology and today's widespread Internet structure, a proposition for a computer system that is aimed at home users. After completing the initial theoretical information gathering, the problem area and needs of the users was researched through the process of problem investigation. Questionnaires were distributed and statistical information obtained. The findings from the investigation gave data to the problem statement phase and provided criterion's that the model should answer to. For the problem statement user observations and methods that concretizes the problem was used. The final product specification and requirements could be described as a design document, helping any further development. Concept generating with the purpose to generate a lot of initial concept solutions was performed. After criteria evaluation and concept combination, two distinct conceptual models were further evaluated by the use of scenario prototyping. The reason for using scenarios was to test the model and get valuable data in order to understand the different approaches. Further development with user involvement through cooperative evaluation and discussions took place, expert evaluations was performed through criteria evaluations and heuristics walkthroughs. The system model that is shown in the final result, provides a description of a new way of computer management. A way that decreases the systems complexity for the home users through a new approach of an intuitive framework for application usages and a more secure network architecture. By using knowledge that was obtained through the literature studies and design work, it was also possible to analyse and discuss around the formulated scientific research questions.
