The study aims to examine how police officers in Boden perceive their psychosocial work environment. Furthermore, the study aims to examine the support functions that exist within the Police to manage disorders of the psychosocial work environment. To answer the purpose is a qualitative method used, and six interviews with police officers in external services have been implemented. The theory used is mainly about the importance of social support.Psychosocial work environment is an interaction between various social and psychological factors, and are relevant to how you feel at work. Shortcomings in the psychosocial work environment can lead to the individual becoming tired and overworked. Rikspolisstyrelsen has designed a document that shall ensure that all employees shall receive a good psychosocial support if they ever get exposed to a psychologically stressful event. The results show that the informants perceive that there are deficiencies in their psychosocial work environment, which has led to that some of them may feel tired at work sometimes. The result also reveals that there are statistics that show that violence has increased in Boden, but that the informants did not feel that they have more violence-related cases than before. The results also shows that if a stressful situation has arisen, the psychosocial support that the Police shall provide does not work as intended and the informants must rely on each other and their colleagues instead.
