Simulerad mental sjukdom: En litteraturstudie om medveten simulering av mental sjukdom
2016 (Swedish)Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor), 10 credits / 15 HE creditsStudent thesis
Abstract [en]

This is a thesis about simulating mental illness. There are several ways and reasons for choosing to lie about such a serious issue and therefore this work will be dedicated to bringing the subject into perspective. The research questions are why mental disease is simulated; how is it simulated and finally the possibility of revealing a simulant. A literature study was made and based on collected articles categories are made in order to bring the subject into perspective. The results indicate that simulants tend to exaggerate their claimed mental illness, also that simulants evolve when unpleasant consequences could be awaiting them, imprisonment for an example, and finally that there is a possibility to discover simulants with certain specific tests which today needs further development.
