Abstract [en]

The projects foundation is Internet Embedded Systems. The purpose of this project is ta create a platform for making development of both Embedded Systems and Internet Embedded Systems simple. To make this project possible, two boards were developed. GEIC General Embedded Internet Controller is the baseboard where you have the possiblity to communicate over Ethernet, RS232 and with the UDEq-board. On this board there are several commonly used components that are used in "Embedded Systems". On the card you will find: 2xPIC18F452, 256kb memory(I2C), RealTimeClockCounter(I2C), 16bit I/O(I2C), temperaturesensor(I2C), ethernet controller, RS232 interface, 2xDC/DC-converters (gives -12V, AGND, +12V, DGND, +5V), LCD-display(2x16). UDEq User Defined Equipment. Is used as a extension card where you can control a large set of components. This components are carefully chosen to fit the environment for ALL new projects. Components: 16 small current relays, 4 high current relays, 8 optocouples, 8 digital switches, 16 LED's, H-bride, signal matrix. About GEIC and UDEq is connected together by a 50-pin EURO-contact. All the signals, from GEIC(voltages, I2C, all ports from microcontroller and so on) are sent with a flat-cable to the UDEq-board. The signal can then be connected as pleased just by using a standard cable to the signal matrix. This means that you can connect any pin on the microcontroller to any component on the UDEq.
