The purpose of this study is to gain a deeper understanding of how the involuntarily childless perceive their situation in society and life. Infertility affects many individuals both socially and psychologically. One in six couples suffer from infertility, yet you hear so little about this. In this study, Erving Goffman's theory of stigma and Zygmunt Bauman's theories of individualsation and liquid love is beeing used. To answer the question, a qualitative study with six interviews was made to get a sense of their experience. The study shows that the majority of infertile feel a shame and failure. They believe that society does not take them seriously and that there is an injustice in the treatments for infertility. Many of them have social problems and some feel so bad that they question their value and life.
