Kan positiva emotioner förbättra fysisk hälsa?
2011 (Swedish)Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor), 10 credits / 15 HE creditsStudent thesis
Abstract [en]

Positive psychology emphasizes that there is as a strong relationship between an individual's emotions, wellbeing, and health. The purpose of this thesis was to examine the relationship between positive emotions and physical health. Is a positive attitude good for an individual's physical health? The method was a literature review of articles, in which the relationship between positive emotions and physical health was examined. The results show that positive emotions such as joy, interest, satisfaction, or love have immediate and long-term effects on physical health. The studies reported a positive correlation between emotions and health, but the explanations were not clear. The conclusion is, however, that positive emotions build and broaden people’s cognition and behavior and counteract the effect of negative emotions, which narrow the individual’s attention.
