Failure modeling of high strength steels in crash simulations through CrachFEM in PAMCRASH

Abstract [en]

The aim of the present project was to establish a failure model called CrachFEM. This model is able to predict ductile and shear fracture and unlike others models adds the instability by necking. The performance of the model was studied in crash simulations. The present study was mainly focused on how to determine the failure parameters from a minimum of tests. The characterization of the testing procedure to obtain these parameters was also discussed. Finally, the experimental results were compared with those from finite element simulation with CrachFEM failure model.
