Abstract [en]

When appointing a manager in another country other then his/her own, there are many new aspects that need to be considered than if that person were to be employed in his/her own country. This thesis aims to investigate how Swedish and Norwegian MNCs appoint country managers in other countries. More specifically, which recruitment criteria is used, the staffing policies and the method of recruitment. A multiple-case study has been conducted where eight companies have been investigated, four Swedish and four Norwegian. The findings of this study are that the criteria for recruiting a manager is quite similar between the companies, the companies use more then one staffing policy and that the companies uses more than one kind of methods of recruitment.
