Real-time systems: design, implementation and verification using UML-RT

Abstract [en]

This work deals with modeling of real-time systems using UML-RT, the real-time extension of the Unified Modeling Language (UML): one of the latest notations for object-oriented specification and design. This work shows the strengths and weaknesses of UML-RT for the development of real-time systems. With an existing software model, the Transmission Software Model, as a base, we show how parts of it can be specified, designed, implemented and verified using methods and tools supplying UML-RT. We conclude that UML-RT is a good notation to use for developing real-time systems. As a result we collect the best experiences of our work in design patterns to be used by others facing the same challenges.
