"Vi gör det här ihop och ändå ska jag visa dig": Duetten – ett medel för sånglig utveckling?
2014 (Swedish)Independent thesis Advanced level (professional degree), 20 credits / 30 HE creditsStudent thesis
Abstract [en]

The purpose of this study is to examine singing teachers opinions about whether them singing duet with their pupils aids the pupils singing development. This is an engaging topic for us as authors as we both soon will graduate as singing teachers. The theoretical points of departure are to be found in socio-cultural theories of learning where the theories of apprenticeship and learning styles are included. The hermeneutic approach permeates the survey. Four separate, qualitative interviews and one qualitative group interview with currently active singing teachers have been done and the material has been processed through phenomenographical analysis rounds. The teachers had very positive experiences from duet singing with their pupils and gave many examples of positive effects that can contribute to singing development. The result from this study shows that, in the interviewed teachers opinions, duet singing between teacher and pupil can be a good method for development of singing. Duet singing can stimulate both vocal technique as well as social development.
