Abstract [en]
This essay treats why it is so few women in the leadership in higher positions in Sweden today in the private sector. The essay aim to analyse this question through a culture perspective since norms and stereotypes plays an important part in this topic. The study is a theoretical one, and it analyse scientific published contributions and deal with the field of study in stereotypes, gender, power, leadership, socialisation, equality between the sexes, and the work distribution between sexes, how women and men divide the work between them in both labour and home. The fundamental theory is Bourdieus study of the male-dominated society and how it influence in society even today. Conclusion is that more men than women are bosses and leaders in higher corporations and positions even though it is more women than men that graduate a degree in the society today. Therefore it is probably stereotypes, norms and the way the organization is structured and how the employer recruit leaders in the work that put obstacle for women how intend to make a career.
