Den portabla ringprylen: Ett examensarbete om mobilbeteende i sociala situationer
2014 (Swedish)Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor), 10 credits / 15 HE creditsStudent thesis
Abstract [en]

Today, the majority of the Swedish population owns a smartphone. A smartphone is a product between a phone and a computer that allows you to constantly be connected to the world. This means that it is hard for smartphone users to miss what is going on. They are always informed by social media what is happening worldwide and expect that everybody is always available. In this essay, we investigate the behavior of smartphone in social situations. We have chosen students between the ages of 20-30 to base the research on. After our investigation, observations of smartphone users, and focus groups of the target audience, we were able to identify how these people relate to their smartphones. The pattern we have observed, based on the methods we have performed, is that it is socially acceptable to use a smartphone in a community even if it will be distracting to others. Many of the students in the study also admitted that they felt addicted to their smartphones.
