This is a study I have been doing in charge for Kommunförbundet Norrbotten with the purpose to describe the student health care’s work with newly arrived refugee children in relation to the new school law referring to student health, in three municipalities in Norrbotten. To reach the purpose has following questions been answered: Are the practitioners within the student health care experiencing that their work with newly arrived refugee children live up to the new school law referring to student health? Why/Why not? How are the practitioners within the student health care experiencing that their work with newly arrived refugee children works today? Which resources (economy, staff, competence, education) is available, are the practitioners experiencing them as enough?I have used a qualitative study and done five semi-structured interviews with persons that in practice work within the student health care, in the municipalities Luleå, Boden and Kalix. The result has been analyzed and compered to the new school law to find possible bursting compliances and set against theories for implementation, to find explanations for why the new school law hasn’t been realized within the student health care´s work with newly arrived refugee children.According to my study several factors must be improved so that the student health care can live up to the new school law. A combination of several measures has to be done, some of them is to give the staff more education and more time in their work with those children for one more equivalent student health compared to the other students in the school, the staff even has to be given one increased opportunity to work with more preventive actions and the cooperation with first of all other authorities has to be better. Even national directives have to be set up for a more systematic work throughout the country.
