Is there a connection between economic welfare and changing demand for environment goods and services?
1999 (English)Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor), 10 credits / 15 HE creditsStudent thesis
Abstract [en]

The purpose of this thesis is twohold. First I intend to find out if there is a connection between economic welfare, (as measured by GNP/Capita) and changing demand for environmental goods and services. Secondly, to successfully complete the first purpose, I must also qualitatively discuss if, and how the preferences for environmental goods and services have changed. The quantitative analysis fail to find any interdependence between the dependent variable (amount spent on environmental control divided with the total budget expenses), and the GNP/capita. The main conclusion of the thesis is that the preferences for environmental goods and services has strengthened, but if it is due to an increasing wealth or changed ethical values could not be decided.
