The aim of this study was to examine young women’s thoughts and experiences of positive body image. A qualitative method was used and data was collected through open letters. The method used to anlyze data was qualitative manifest and latent content analyse. The result of the open letters resulted in two themes with two subthemes each. Loving eye sees no flaws with subthemes To appreciate your own and others' bodies and Being comfortable in your own body also My body is my temple with subthemes To be active for function and appearance and To make healthy choices. The result shows that positive body image was defined by participants as an endorsement of their own and others' bodies. This meant accepting the appearance of their own body, appreciating the body's functions, treating their own body with respect and feeling satisfied and happy. The young women’s thoughts and experiences of positive body image also included to make healthy choices of healthy diet and exercise for their own well-being. The results of the study are discussed with the role health counselors and other health professionals who work with young women in mind.
