Abstract [en]

This report presents a master thesis at the Computer Science and Engineering programme at Luleå University of Technology. The purpose of the study was to propose a number of statistical presentations of base station faults that would help the user getting an overview of the historical behaviour of different parts of a mobile network. This report presents a number of interesting statistical presentations and how some of them can, and have been, implemented. The implemented solution includes a Java client receiving input from a user and presenting the statistics graphically in a bar chart. The Java server accesses a relational database and performs the searching required by using stored procedures. The server has a CORBA interface which thereby also allows non-Java clients to access the server and its' functionality. The statistics functionality has been integrated with a "Fault Manager Support Tool" developed at Ericsson Erisoft AB, Sweden.
