2001 (English)Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor), 10 credits / 15 HE creditsStudent thesis
Abstract [en]

The aim of this essay has been to examine the relation between fantasy characters by Terry Pratchett and archetypal, mythical characters. This study claims that the characters Pratchett depicts, their traits and behaviour have their foundation in myth, folklore and fairytale. The purpose has been to show that there is a distinct link between archetypal and fantasy characters, and that Pratchett uses certain historical features and develops them to form new myths, however with the archetypal model as a base.
