Abstract [en]
This essay will focus on understanding the terms interactivity and participation on a modernwebsite which focuses on entertainment and popular culture. The essay aims to answer thequestion of what kind of interactivity that can be found on the website and how the producersof said website urge the users to participate. The focus will be on the website of RoosterTeeth Production where one can fins all of their productions.The essay is based on research on web based interactivity and connected to terms ofparticipatory culture, fan culture and community. The essay is a case study on how new webbased production companies like Rooster Teeth work towards their audience and user base.The methodology used is an already developed method of measuring interactivity in a scale, aquantitative method combined with a textual analysis. The empirical content is the website inits whole and selected video clips from Rooster Teeth.The result shows that Rooster Teeth only offer a relatively low level of interactivity on theirwebsite and the participation that was found is limited to the producers’ control.
