Abstract [en]

Abstract This project aims to study if it is possible to synthesise a catalytic zeolite coating on inert packing material. Such a catalyst would be beneficial in terms of selectivity and activity. The tested packing material are spheres with diameters of 6 mm and porous bodies with porosity of 85%. Both these materials contain mainly Al2O3. The zeolites that has been used are ZSM-5 and Silicalite-1. The method used to synthesise the coating is "the Seed Film Method": the method has been modified to suite the packing materials. The samples have been characterized by scanning electron microscopy, x-ray diffraction, gas adsorption, thermal analysis and dynamic light scattering. The results show that it is possible to synthesise catalytic zeolite coatings on inert packing material by using a modified version of "the Seed Film Method". Continuous ZSM-5 films with a thickness of about 500 nm were formed on both types of support.
