Rice Husk Ash as an Additive in Concrete Reinforced with Natural Fibers

Abstract [en]

An additive is needed in order to be able to produce durable, low cost, corrugated roof sheets of concrete reinforced with natural fibres (as e.g. sisal and jute). In this report rice husk ash is tested as such an additive as an alternative to condensed silica fume. A literature study has been carried out and short time tests have been performed where the properties of concrete with rice husk ash (RHS) have been compared to concrete with condensed silica fume (CSF). The rice husk ash showed good properties especially in combination with long jute fibres treated with aluminium sulphate.
