This master thesis involves discovering how the ergonomic principles can be implemented in the piston production at Bosch Rexroth in Mellansel. The goal is to find problem areas and improve the work environment for the operators, by considering physical, psychosocial and ergonomic aspects. The problem areas were found by using relevant methods such as noise and vibration tests, mental health tests and ergonomic tests regarding poor posture. Upon examination of these tests, it becomes clear that a healthy work environment also enhances the operators’ work performance as well as it improves profitability and operational efficiency. By showing how to create a functioning work design, this research highlights the importance of ergonomics and is an example of how it can be implemented in manufacturing companies.
