Improvement study of engine finish facility at Perkins Engines

Abstract [en]

This project provides recommendations for how the engine manufacturer, Perkins Engines, can improve their final assembly and paint process to meet the future demands. The recommendations is based upon analysis of the present conditions and provide the operational capabilities, efficiencies, constraints and limitations. Consideration is taken to the analysis, economy, quality and logistics and also to the rest of the company. All recommendations are developed according to Lean production and 6 sigma methods and philosophy. Automation, waste reduction and potential layout development of the facility are the main subjects of the proposals.
