Abstract [en]

Visual radio or audio slideshow presented together on the same platform is an unexplored area. The area is technically ready for it and practically there are no obsticles. What this essay problematizes and discusses is how visual radio could be formed from a production point of view and from a receivers point of view. It will be done by looking at multimedia publications produced by media companies but also by understandning how the editorial staff is working with audio and sound together. For instance interviews with editorial staff at New York Times, Svenska Dagbladet, DuckRabbit and MediaStorm is done to get their view. The receivers point of view is depicted by looking at media research but also by understanding the cognitive process of the receiver when exposed to auditive and visual perception. With an inductive approach in this essay, condition for discussion and problematize is created and results in five examples of how visual radio could be formed.
