Abstract [en]
The recent decline in pupil numbers and the new upper secondary school reform, GY 2011, has led to schools facing conservation requirements, cut downs, and efficiency strategies. The purpose of this thesis is to highlight employee's perspective of an organizational change in a secondary school. This thesis is based on the Demand-Control-Support model (Karasek & Theorell, 1990) and sense of coherence (Antonovsky, 2005).The research questions are: How have employees experienced the organizational change? How has the organizational change affected the employees psychosocial work environment? Have the employees felt included in the process of change? Ten semi-structured interviews were conducted with employees, who have been directly affected by the organizational change. The data collected was analyzed using a thematic method of analysis. The results show that the psychosocial work environment was negatively affected during organizational change, thereby cohesiveness and job satisfaction in the workplace deteriorating. The results also show that the employee's role and position in the organization affected the experience of the organizational change as well as the experience of participation.
