Hodograph transformations and second order nonlinear evolution equations

Abstract [en]

In this essay we study two different invertible hodograph transformations. The pure hodograph transformation and the x-generalised hodograph transformation. The x-generalised hodograph transformation is a generalisation of the pure hodograph transformation with priority in the x-coordinate. The use of both these transformations is illustrated with several examples. We also study a tree of linearisable second order evolution equations developed by N. and M. Euler and first published in [4].
