Improved Cell Data Quality for Positioning Purposes

Abstract [en]

Mobile communication is an essential issue for telecom operators in cellular network. It is required to be communicated properly among users without having any trouble. Recently, research on cellular data communication is exploring in telecommunication for better accuracy of the mobile users position using cells data. However, the telecom operators are still struggling to track the mobile user’s location properly. Regular cell shape is called good cell data and bad cell data is defined when the cell shape becomes irregular.Bad cell data are responsible for getting mobile user position properly. Inaccuracy of cell shape, lack of cell data measurement, inaccurate coordination in geographical area etc. are the major shortcomings to identify better position of mobile users under the cellular network. A visualization software tool has been developed to analyze the cells data. The proposed tool is able to fix the bad cell into good cell using an XML software tool for getting better user’s position. The system is built based on PHP, java script with the help of Google API and xml based real log file data. Positioning data has been considered as latitude and longitude from the log file. The log file data has been collected from the telecommunication company. The software tool can able to analysis and show the cell data status of mobile users for a certain geographical area. The tool is developed integrating a mathematical idea to identify bad cell from the log file. The tool can successfully fix most of the bad cell identified after conducting several experiments by extracting and analyzing cell data in different geographical areas. Afterwards, the tool repairs bad cell shapes to good cell shapes in order to get better mobile user’s position. After investigating the results most of the bad cells are repaired as good cells and the quality of mobile location accuracy is found better. The system can now be used by any mobile operator to achieve better performance when locating mobile phones. Moreover, it can be used to improve the accuracy of mobile user’s positions as an improved service delivery of GSM and CDMA mobile operators.
