On-line the new way of recruiting: IT-companies hiring process: a case study of Netcom Consultants and Moore BCS
2002 (English)Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor), 10 credits / 15 HE creditsStudent thesis
Abstract [en]

The purpose with this thesis is to describe the hiring process for IT- companies and to describe the different steps in the on-line hiring process compared to the steps in the traditional hiring process. In today's society where people change jobs more often, it is important for the companies to come up with a working hiring process that is both fast and reliable. To be able to study the hiring process for IT-companies, I did a case study of two similar companies, one in Sweden and one in the USA. I used a qualitative study with interviews both in person and via phone. The result I got was that IT-companies are using a mixed form of the traditional and the on-line hiring processes. They do not trust the on-line process all the way and are therefore using part of it, which give them more control. The differences between the two processes is that the on-line process tries to make the process more automatically and shorten the time it takes for every step.
