Applying CIM, WBEM, and SNMP for Management of Linux Servers
2002 (English)Independent thesis Advanced level (professional degree), 20 credits / 30 HE creditsStudent thesis
Abstract [en]

In big networks it is not possible to monitor the status of all elements at their physical location. An automated management system is needed. The purpose of this master thesis is to design and implement a monitoring system for hundreds of Linux servers spread over the country. Our solution is based on SNMP, CIM, and WBEM, and involves both pushing and pulling of data in a distributed system. This makes our system both firewall transparent and scalable.
