Abstract [en]

This master thesis discusses how to design a Content Management (CM) system for implementation using the Java programming language. The system has support for version control, translations, references, locking, metadata and export/import. The four document types defined in the standard SS-EN 82045-1, established by Svenska Elektriska Kommissionen (SEK), are used as a base in the design. Because the system is designed as a distributed multi-tier application, the Java 2 Enterprise Edition was selected as the development platform. A number of Java interfaces are used as a business delegate to separate the implementation of the repository back-end from the clients’ view of the system. This makes it possible to have different back-ends for the system in the future when standards regarding computerized CM have appeared and have become widely accepted. An overview of CM and some of the standards related to CM is also presented in the thesis.
