Cargo Design Concept: Designing of a cargo adaption for the electric ultra-light vehicle ZBee

Abstract [en]

This master thesis in industrial design engineering at Luleå University of Technology was preformed during the summer of 2012 and aimed to design a pickup/cargo module for ZBee, an electric ultra- light vehicle, at the new clean tech company Clean Motion AB. The module would have to be designed so that their already existing design of a people mover, transformed into a pick-up version while only changing a few set of parts. In asset to the cargo module, there was a need for an adequate weather protection, designed to cover the pick-up module. With needfinding studies as well as market analysis, the design process has in close collaboration with people working at Clean Motion lead to a design concept that fits the next generation of vehicle developed at the company. The process has been iterated several times to become a new innovative and flexible solution that has the ability to carry 1m3 of cargo with almost no emissions.
