The purpose of this thesis is to increase the overall performance of a CleanTech company (CT) by implementing a concept known as business process management (BPM). This has mainly been performed using process mapping as a tool, which is an important component for adopting BPM. Process measurements were also investigated in order to integrate relevant measurements into a BPM system (a web-based platform). The data was gathered from a number of interviews, meetings and workshops. Department managers, within the investigated CT, were the main respondents. Three workshops took place, to verify and to diagnose how the work with the BPM implementation was progressing. The mapping resulted in five main processes. These were dissected into sub-processes aided by support processes and controlled by one management process. This resulted in the creation of almost 30 process maps, including around 270 activities and approximately 70 documents. These maps and documents were consolidated into the BPM system, where they were interlinked with a database. Explanations and pictures were also added to clarify the different activities in the maps. The explanations and pictures were set to appear automatically in the web application, when the mouse pointer was held over a notation. This resulted in a new description for how the work within CT was performed, based on processes. This will help CT to coordinate its activities. The main process definitions were strongly connected with the organization’s departments, which created a paradox. A common description of a main process is that the process cuts across the old organizational departments, but, at CT, the processes were aligned fairly well to the old department. This interpretation of the main process was still considered to be valid because a lot of effort was put into finding cross-department dependencies.
