Abstract [en]

This thesis was done at Ericsson Erisoft AB during fall 2000. The purpose was to evaluate some parts of a specific software platform, Common Integration Framework (CIF), by performing a theoretical analysis and then conducting some performance measurements to verify the results. Parts that were investigated in greater detail were Naming Service, Notification Service and Directory Service. Topics that we evaulated were CPU, delay, events/second, main memory, the number of connections and so on. The master thesis resulted in a suggestion with recommended actions to reduce or eliminate the identified bottlenecks in the system. The thesis investigated the performance of the different 3rd party products that are used in CIF and many other frameworks. These results can be useful even outside Ericsson. However, Ericsson wanted to keep the results and conclusions secret so no results or conclusions will be presented in this public report.
