Rebuilding trucks - adding auxilliary axles: a study of buying behavior
1999 (English)Independent thesis Advanced level (professional degree), 20 credits / 30 HE creditsStudent thesis
Abstract [en]

There is a lot of competition in the hauling business in Sweden and therefore it becomes more and more important for the truck owners to use their trucks in a cost efficient way. One way to do this is to get a truck with four axles and thereby increase the truck’s loading capacity. On assignment from Volvo Truck Corporation I have made a study of buying behavior among truck buyers. I have investigated how common it is that truck buyers have their trucks equipped with a fourth axle. I have also studied how, and on what grounds, such a decision is made. To accomplish this I have conducted depth interviews and a letter survey on order to collect information from truck owners. I have also collected information from data bases in the Swedish vehicle register. Due to an agreement of confidentiallity with Volvo Truck Corporation I can not present my conclusions publicly.
