Abstract [en]

Arundhati Roy´s narrative explores issues such as the role of women and children in Indian society, the consequences of British colonialism and the impact of the caste system. The purpose of the essay is, through looking at the family from a feminist perspective as well as a post-colonial theoretical approach, to examine how the family mirrored in Roy´s novel is a microcosm of Indian society.
