Abstract [en]

Spoken newspapers have been provided to blind and partially sighted people in Sweden for many years. They are important to those who are unable to read ordinary newspapers. One way to distribute the spoken papers is to broadcast them over a FM radio channel. Subscribers of these broadcasted newspapers have a special receiver in their home, that automatically receives the broadcast, and stores the spoken paper on an audio tape for later listening. This master's thesis is part of a project that presents a digital alternative to the old analog receivers. The report deals with the task of digital storage of audio data on a non-volatile memory device. A MultiMediaCard flash memory was used for this. Both storage and retrieval of data from a digital signal processor (DSP) in real time was implemented.
