Abstract [en]

At the tool division department at Gestamp Hardtech in Luleå a transition from design of press hardening tools in the 3D CAD software I-DEAS and to some extent in the 3D CAD software NX design entirely in NX is ongoing. To save time at start-up of a new press hardening tools project start models have been requested. These start models will help to facilitate the start of construction work for the designers by having a foundation that is well adaptable and reduce the so-called bulk job with a tool. The purpose of this report is to describe how the starter models for press hardening tools with a focus on the moving parts has been built up in this project. The objective was to create models of retainers that are easy to use and are standardized. The models that are created will also be well parameterized to control the position, length, width, height and position of standard components that will be included in the models. Another objective was that the starting models would contain guiding between the upper and lower tool. Fully functioning beta versions of the starting models will be available by the end of the project. In this master thesis start models with movable parts have been constructed for press hardening line 300 and press hardening line 700. All the starting models consist of an upper and a lower tool. These models include die cast, retainers, die set and tool guiding (steering columns and bushings for steering columns). In the die casts outtakes for the retainers have been added. These outtakes have the same geometry as the retainers and the tool surfaces. The die casts contain all the attributes that can be found in the die casts made in previous master theses at Gestamp Hardtech in Luleå. To improve and develop these starting models further they should be used by the design engineers in the tool division.
