Comprehension of bending behaviour of Dual Phase 980 GA Steel

Abstract [en]

The high strength steels such as the DP980GA must combine high strength and high formability such as good bending properties. The in-use properties depend upon the microstructure, the surface state and the presence of defects within the substrate or the coating. General trends have been observed between the bending behavior and the annealing parameters. However all the bending results cannot be explained by these trends which remain not clearly explained. Various bending results were observed on a same coil annealed in stable condition. To understand the origin of these scatterings and to be able to propose some solutions to improve the in-use properties of the DP980GA a deeper analysis of the microstructure (coating + substrate) is needed. The aim of the training consists in the establishment of accurate links between microstructure and bending. Two approaches will be applied for the microstructural characterization: a statistical approach and a three dimensional approach.
