Unproductive time and another form of waste is common in construction. It is quite normal that only about 2/3 of the assigned construction tasks during one week are finished according to plan. Often because the tasks are not sound regarding its prerequisites. New methods for planning and control are needed in construction to improve the reliability of the work flow and to mitigate the waste.In this thesis, the Swedish contractor Peabs’ new method for production control is evaluated. The purpose of the thesis is to illustrate what the impact has been so far in regards to minimizing the amount of disruptions among craftsmen. The purpose is also to find ways to improve the method based on the theory of Last Planner System – a method for production control with its roots in Lean Construction – which has been implemented with great success worldwide. The results is based on a case study carried out on a construction site acting as one of the pilot projects for Peabs’ new method for production control.The authors have conducted a survey to get an understanding of how the new method has affected the amount of disruptions in craftsmen’s daily work. The survey involved craftsmen from the case study project as well as craftsmen within Peab who had only experienced the traditional ways of production control. Besides the survey, the authors also interviewed foremen with experience of both traditional ways of production control, and who had used Peabs’ new method for production control during an entire construction project. The results indicate that Peabs’ new method for production control has decreased the amount of disruptions in craftsmen’s daily work.By conducting interviews and by observing on meetings, the authors got an understanding of Peabs’ new method and how it is used in practice. The authors then identified several deviations from the theory of Last Planner System. On that basis the authors have presented a few suggestions that could improve Peabs’ method. Peab can try out these suggestion in future implementations on their construction sites.
