How to solve it: a discussion of a problem solving strategy by G Polya
1995 (English)Student paper other, 20 credits / 30 HE creditsStudent thesis
Abstract [en]

The Polya four-step model for problem solving is presented. The model is a framework for a question-oriented solution of mathematical problems. It is illustrated and discussed with two simple examples. The Pythagorean theorem is used in a three-dimensional model. The problem to describe a square in a triangle is discussed in the same spirit and some exercises for the reader are presented. Some final remarks and personal conclusions are included.
