Abstract [en]
SunPine in Piteå is facing a production increase with the construction of a newfactory, while new establishments in the immediate area create an increased need forthe district heating that is currently being delivered to the district heating systemowned by PiteEnergi. The issues that have arisen in connection with this are▪ How much energy will be available for district heating at the end of 2020when the new plant has been built and is fully operating?▪ Make a conceptual study of ways to use the excess energy already available atthe plant. The 3 bar steam system used for producing district heating was analysed. Variousoperating cases were calculated, and heat exchanger analysis was performed. This laidthe foundation for a mass balance that showed a surplus of steam to use for districtheating of 2300 kW when both factories are fully operating by the end of 2020.Regarding excess energy from other sources, previous work was examined andevaluated based on the factors Redundancy, Reliability, Applicability and Economy. The two most interesting sources to proceed with were the heat from cooling of RTD(green bio diesel) and the use of heat from the flue gas scrubber. These energysources have the greatest potential to contribute to an increased district heatingdemand.
