Abstract [en]

The use of magnetic separators are discussed as well as magnetic concentration of sulphides. Tests show that magnetic separation generally is unsuited for primary separation because of iron containing silicates in the ore. Encouraging results in concentrate purification are reported. Bolidens concentrator in Garpenberg, Germany, uses an Allis-SALA-HGMS together with a small flotation circuit to recover sphalerite lost to the galena concentrate in lead flotation. The results show increased zinc recovery and enhanced quality of the Pb concentrate
