    Abstract [en]

A housing market with a housing deficit, a fluctuating market and long construction times leads to insecure home buyers. To shorten their construction times and make their pro-duction more efficient, Veidekke has identified three development areas; prefabrication, logistics and digital tools. At the same time, the company has observed that the staff that works in the organization's production consists of two separate generations. They can be identified as, to exaggerate it, as an older generation approaching their pension and a younger one who is newly graduated. The purpose of this study is to answer the question of how the company should use the overall competence while promoting the development of the pre-viously mentioned areas.

In order to answer the question, a qualitative study with interviews with employees from Veidekke's organization has been carried out. Additionally, a literature study has been implemented to answer the main question of the study along with the results of the inter-views.

The study highlights the greatest differences between the separate generations as well as the main barriers for changed work methods. Along with the theory of the study, it can be stated that in order to overcome these barriers, promote development and take advantage of the overall competence, the company must increase its involvement. Particularly the pro-duction staff needs to be involved at an earlier stage. If implemented, you get higher quality solutions and they are more accepted throughout the organization.
