    Abstract [en]

    Hydraulic system has a critical and important role in drilling machines. Any failure in this system leads to problems in power system and machine operation. Since the failure cannot be prevented entirely, it is important to minimize its probability. Reliability is one of the most efficient and important method to study safe operation probability of hydraulic systems. In this research, the reliability of hydraulic system of four rotary drilling machines in Sarcheshmeh Copper Mine in Iran has been analyzed. The data analysis shows that the time between failures (TBF) of Machines A and C obey the Weibull (2P) and Weibull (3P) distribution, respectively. Also, the TBF of Machines B and D obey the lognormal distribution. With regard to reliability plots of hydraulic systems, preventive reliability-based maintenance time intervals for 80% reliability levels for machines in this system are 10 h.

    Abstract [en]

    In this paper a basic methodology was used for the reliability modeling and developing a maintenance program for a fleet of four drilling rigs. Failure and performance data was collected from Sarcheshmeh Copper Mine in Iran for a two-year period. Then the available data was classified and analyzed and reliability of all subsystems and whole rigs were modeled and studied. The failure data showed that, in all rigs, electrical, hydraulic and drilling systems are the most frequent failing subsystems of the machine. The reliability analysis showed that transmission system is the most reliable subsystem in all studied rigs. In order to calculate the reliability of whole fleet, it was assumed that operation of at least two drilling rigs is essential for satisfying the production goals. Therefore, probabilistic possibility of all fleet's states were calculated. In this paper, 80% is selected as the desired level of reliability for developing of preventive maintenance program for each subsystem of the drilling rigs. Finally, the practical approaches were suggested for improving the maintenance operation and productivity of the studied fleet.

    Abstract [en]

    In any blasthole drilling the bottom of theblasthole must be kept clean by evacuating drill cuttings orit flushing as soon as they appear to ensure efficient drilling.If it is not done well, a large quantity of energy will beconsumed in regrinding with the consequent wear on drillbit and decrease penetration, apart from the risk of jamming.Therefore, research on reliability and probability ofsafe operation of pneumatic system of drilling machines isof prime importance to ensure safe drilling operations. Inthis paper, reliability of this system was modeled andanalyzed. To doing this research, drilling machines inSarcheshmeh Copper Mine in Iran have been selected fordata collection and analysis. After reliability modeling ofpneumatic system, maintenance scheduling has been presentedbased on different reliability levels. There were fourrotary drilling machines in this mine (named A, B, C andD). Results showed that after about 7 h drilling ofmachines A and B, and after 103 and 44 h drilling ofmachines C and D respectively, noticeably the reliability ofpneumatic system reached to 80 %. As a result, machinesC and D have more reliable pneumatic systems in comparisonto machines A and B and checking and servicing ofpneumatic system before these time was essential. Also,maintainability analysis showed that more failures ofpneumatic system of machines A, B, C and D will benoticeably repaired at about 28, 34, 6 and 9 h.

    Abstract [en]

    Rotary drilling machines are the most common machines used for drilling the blast holes in mining and constructions activities. The vital role of drilling operation in mining activities reveals that, the performance analysis of drilling machines and their failure and repair behaviors are essential. There-fore, the present study focuses on the reliability, availability and maintainability (RAM) of drilling ma-chines. In this paper, four rotary drilling machines at Sarcheshmeh Copper Mine in Iran are considered for repair and failure data collection. RAM analysis of drilling machines is done using Markov Approach. Results show that the reliability of drilling fleet is decreased by 0.67% in per hour drilling. The hydraulic system is the main unavailability reason of all machines. Moreover, the most failures of the two newest machines are completely repaired in 25 hours

    Abstract [en]

    In this study, 19 burden designing methods have been analysed for burden design in the Sungun Copper Mine in Iran. Also, economical Optimum Burdens (OBs) have been calculated using the results of actual blastings. The results of mentioned methods and optimum burden have been compared with each other. The comparison shows that the Anderson, Pears, Allsman, Langefors and Energy Transition (ET) methods have very close results to the OB. Also, the results of Fraenkel, Ash, Foldesi and Prillet methods are very different from the OB. Therefore, earlier methods could not be used in burden designing for open pit mines.
